Rapid Prototyping

Rapid Prototyping is the process of growing physical components directly from 3D CAD models in a very short space of time.

Rapid Prototyping is used effectively in Research and Development and small-scale production.

ADEPT purchased an EOS Selective Laser Sintering S700 RP machine in February 2004. The machine is operated at the Central University of Technology in the Free State province of South Africa. Through our partnership with the Central University of Technology, ADEPT is able to offer customers the ability to rapid prototype components for a wide variety of applications.

Depending upon the needs of the customer, Rapid Prototyping components can be grown in the following materials:

  • Foundry sand
  • Plastic polyamide
  • Alumide
  • Primecast

Through the use of Rapid Prototyping  technology, ADEPT has been able to produce prototype engine components thereby greatly reducing the time to market and saving considerable R&D expense.
